Monero.how is up for auction! See the auction listing

There are 2 additional auctions for the following Monero related domains:
monero.blog
monero.exchange

The two domains above have attracted the most interest, which is why they are up for auction. I also have two other domains for sale, which are xmrbuy.com and monero.zone. I'll only accept XMR for these, and you must contact me by email at knacccprotonmail.com if you would like to make an offer. The reserve price is only 0.6 XMR for each of these domains.

What is included in the sale?

The domain (monero.how), the site content and the source code which generates the live statistics for the site. Includes set up of the site on your own servers.

What is required to keep the business operational?

The site does not need any maintenance to run, except possibly if in the future any of the sources that provide statistics to the site go offline and those statistics need to be removed from the site. This is trivially easy to do.

I will install this site to your own dreamhost account (or other web host that allows scp uploads) and set up the VPS for you that will automatically refresh the site with live statistics throughout the day.

Why are you selling the business?

I am a software developer and am not skilled at monetization of the site. Offers have already been received to sponsor the site, but I'm not the right person to negotiate the deals.

How does the business generate revenue?

Future potential revenues are from selling sponsorships or placing advertising on the site. Offers have already been recvied for sponsorship (e.g. one written offer was for $2400 per year. I can provide a copy of the written offer to you if you purchase the site, so that you can negotiate with the sponsor).

Are there any expenses for the business? If so, what are they?

Total hosting costs of $12.42/month. The breakdown is: A $4.47/month basic VPS from OVH that would be suitable to run the scripts to pull in live statistics. The site is purely a static HTML site generated by the scripts, and so can be hosted on e.g. a $7.95/month Dreamhost account (or any web host that allows scp uploads from the VPS).

What marketing initiatives have been used for this business?

The site is widely known in the Monero community due to the large amount of original content created for it and unique set of statistics and charts collected and presented that are of great interest to Monero holders. The site provides a price widget, which other sites have embedded (e.g. monero-observer.com). There are also stock images created for the Monero coin, which other web sites can use in exchange for linking to Monero.how. There is a Mac price ticker which includes a link back to Monero.how from the menu bar of any Mac that has the ticker installed.

How can the future owner improve the business?

By putting Adsense on the site and/or by contacting potential sponsors (including the one that has already offered $2400 per year). For example, a mining pool, cryptocurrency exchange, cryptocurrency conversion site (such as shapeshift) or hardware wallet vendor may want to pay to be featured on the site.
